In this day and age Vision Insurance is thought of as a unneeded, extra health benefit. With companies looking to save on their employee health insurance costs, dental and vision coverage is often eliminated first.
Vision Care and Benefits is very important for families today, especially when one or more family members are visually impaired. Vision Care and related products can be expensive and there are options to consider to help.
While most health insurance companies prefer to sell health insurance to employee groups, there are companies that do sell health and vision insurance online to single persons and families. In preparation for writing this article I investigated available insurance coverage with a large vision insurance provider. I was rather shocked at what I found out.
For a family of three in Washington State, the vision insurance plan would cost $444.95 annually. For a couple the price would be $324.95 and for an individual the cost is $169.95. There were no monthly payment options. Obviously in the Insurance Industry companies must collect a lump sum before they pay out on any benefits.
What would the benefits be on such a vision coverage plan? My comparison of vision insurance and vision discount programs should help to evaluate the merits of each. Here is what I found out.
